Why Branding Is Important  When It Comes To Marketing

In this post, I am going to give you some examples of branding and also some top tips to make you out shine your competition.

What is a brand?

If you were to do a search on Google for ‘What is a brand’, you may leave confused due to the amount of connections the word ‘Brand’ actually has…

From knowing which cow is yours, to the latest product name for a soap powder.

Let’s keep it RELATIVE to what we are interested in…

If you had a business without a name, how would people find you?

A brand is an identity.

How many of these do you recognise?…


Some of them you will probably know but maybe never even communicated or used their services.

If you are wanting to start out online or build a business, it is very important that you think about how you want others to see you. That first impression is everything!

‘Lottery Ticket’

Picture yourself walking down the street, you want to buy a lottery ticket.

Walking down the street you notice two shops, both of them are newsagents so probably both sell lottery tickets, BUT, one shop has a ‘LOTTO’ symbol on their shop advertisement.

Which one do you go to?

Suddenly a simple thing like branding has made one shop money and the other has lost custom.

Coming up with a brand does not need to be difficult!
In fact, it should be something that comes quite naturally.

Whether you are wanting to brand your business under a specific niche or you want to brand yourself, start off by jotting down ideas.

You MUST be happy with the outcome, you are building your future on this.
(No pressure)

You might already have a logo idea, then you want to build a fitting name or vice versa. Which ever way round you do it, just make sure the two are compatible.
(For example, if you were a fishing business, a logo with a dog on it might be misleading)

The strongest EVER brand, is YOU!

People buy into people, they buy with emotion, so the closer your brand is to your heart, the closer it will be to your customers. If your branding tells a story, then it will help boost that connection between buyer and seller.

My logo as you can see incorporates my first initial and my last initial, to me, that could not be any better as my brand is myself and people know that from my name.

So, once you have your name ideas written down, you will probably want a stylish logo to go with it…

I have used many services before for logos and some have been better than others. You can spend a fortune on simple logos from some places.
I personally used a designer on Fiverr for my branding of this site you are on now.

Like we have already said, you might want to brand your business with your own name.

You might be a sole trader or micro business that offers coaching or 1-on-1 services to clients.

But how can you stand out from all the others in your niche with businesses under their own name?…

Stand out!, Be Different! – This does not need to be a headache of a task. It could be a simple thing like giving exceptional value with your brand on it. So a presentation with some great tips that incorporates your name and logo. That way if it was shared it is getting advertised.
Your business might be online based but you actually network offline and go live on social media showing your networking closely with customers. The most important thing is to use your imagination!

Flaunt who you are! – Be confident, there is no wrong or right way. Just your way and other peoples. You will always have people that disagree, even on this post now there will be people that don’t like my style of writing or the colour socks I am wearing. (Grey by the way).
Let people know who you are, buy a t-shirt with your name and logo on to do your weekly shop in or wear it while doing YouTube videos if that is something you do. Just remember, you are AWESOME, tell people about it!
People like and follow people that they can trust, get value from and just genuinely enjoy their personality. So be natural, be who you are and as long as you are open. You will build a respectful following wherever you go.

Know where to aim!…

You need to know who you want to target, whether it be making a professional connection or selling a product if you don’t know who or why you want to connect, how should they know why they want to connect?
By now, if you are doing something different, flaunting that difference and giving value, then you will be building the right connections automatically without a doubt. That is because people know YOU! They know your BRAND!
If you don’t know who you are supposed to be targeting, then take a step back, break down your product and niche. Focus on your perfect customer and build that picture in your head. Once you know, don’t forget it and market to that audience.

To summarise, you should now know what a brand is, it is the identity of you or/and your business. You should feel confident in why you need one and how important it is to market yourself and business well.
It doesn’t need to be expensive, you just need to have a way of showing others who you are and once you have got it, share it with the world, but focus on your target market when doing so.

Brand is something to be proud of, just like big companies like Google and Apple. They stand by their brands and they have built respect and rapport from it.
